The Aga Khan Studs are delighted to announce two exciting additions to the stallion roster of the Haras de Bonneval for the 2016 season.
Arc hero DALAKHANI relocates to Normandy after many successful years in Ireland, while triple Group 1 winning miler Charm Spirit joins the Haras de Bonneval in a continuation of the partnership between the Aga Khan Studs and Qatar Bloodstock.
Charm Spirit retired to stud for the 2015 season and has been enthusiastically received by breeders at Tweenhills Farm & Stud and was fully booked. He will stand for his second season at the Haras de Bonneval in an extension of the collaboration between the Aga Khan Studs and Qatar Bloodstock, which saw the talented young sire Makfi operate from Normandy this year.
Charm Spirit is well-known to French professionals as he recorded his first two
Group 1 successes in the Prix Jean Prat and Prix du Moulin de Longchamp before going on to victory in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot. Charm Spirit is the highest earning son of the proven sire of sires Invincible Spirit, making him one of the most exciting young stallion prospects.
Proven sire DALAKHANI returns to the country of his greatest triumphs on the racetrack, the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe and Prix du Jockey Club in 2003.
The grey son of Darshaan, out of the exceptional mare Daltawa requires little introduction to those familiar with the Aga Khan Studs, and the announcement of his relocation comes just days after his son Second Step offered his sire a 13th Group 1 victory. The sire of Integral, Reliable Man, Moonstone and Conduit has already produced six stakes winners in 2015 and is currently the 10th leading sire in Europe in order of Stakes winners to runners (5.3%). DALAKHANI is now also earning a reputation as an excellent broodmare sire, with 10 Stakes winners out of his daughters.
