Aga Khan draft popular at Deauville

Monday 6 December 2004

The Aga Khan draft of fillies and mares once again proved to be one of the highlights of the Deauville December Sales,

with three making it inside the top five mares for sale.

The highest priced of these was Dalannda, a Hernando half sister to Group I winner Daliapour from one of the most successful Aga Khan families. She was sold to Anthony Stroud for €250,000 - her dam Dalara, herself a Group II winner, is also a three parts sister to Darshaan.

Also in the draft was a Kahyasi half sister to Group II winner and Group I placed Behkara, out of the Group I winner Behera. The athletic three year old filly, who has been placed several times, was eventually knocked down to Emerald Bloodstock’s Brendan Gallagher for €185,000. Another placed filly from an excellent family to reach six figures was Zanna, a Soviet Star half sister to two Stakes winners, including the dam of Classic winner Zalaiyka. Zanna was bought by Bertrand Le Metayer on behalf of Simon Hope for €120,000.
