Stallion of the moment Charm Spirit takes first Group success

CHARM SPIRIT’s excellent season with his first juveniles continued on Thursday as the appropriately-named Yourtimeisnow offered the young sire his first Group success.

Already a winner from pillar to post at Newbury in August, on this occasion Yourtimeisnow showed both courage and a turn of foot. She took the lead in the early stages of the Gr.3 Dick Poole Stakes at Salisbury and responded well when challenged in the final furlong to score by half a length, with the rest of the field a further two and a quarter lengths adrift.

The filly’s jockey Andrea Atzeni was impressed and commented to the Racing Post, “She has got so much natural speed. Mentally and physically she’s getting better and she could be anything.

Yourtimeisnow carries the colours of owner Sheikh Mohammed Obaid Al Maktoum, and was bred by Boyce Bloodstock and Mrs C. E. Percival, out of Maid For Winning (Gone West) who is a half-sister to American Group 1 scorer Stroll. She was purchased by trainer Roger Varian for 120,000 Guineas at Tattersalls last October.

The filly holds an entry in the Group 2 Rockfel Stakes at Newmarket on 28th September.

CHARM SPIRIT (Invincible Spirit) has alternated between the Haras de Bonneval and Tweenhills Farm during his stallion career and he will return to England and Tweenhills Farm for the 2019 season.

Third in the first season sires standings, the triple Group 1 winning miler counts 15 individual winners among his progeny, and in addition to Group winner Yourtimeisnow, he is also represented by CHARMING KID, third in the Gr.2 July Stakes.
