A chance to acquire powerful pedigrees at Goffs

Wednesday 10 November 2021

Another exciting draft from the Aga Khan Studs.

Progeny out of mares sold by the Aga Khan Studs won 13 Stakes contests and placed in a further 16 Stakes races across England, Ireland, France, Australia and the USA in 2021. Among them were the Grade 1 winner SHANTISARA, Group 2-winning juveniles Royal Patronage and Four Moves Ahead, dual Group 1 placed Gold Trip, Grade 1 runner-up Amschel and Grade 1 placed novice chaser Zarkareva.

Little doubt then that this year’s draft of homebred fillies and mares should be firmly on the radar of buyers and breeders, with 25 horses set to go through the ring at the upcoming Goffs November Breeding Stock Sale on Friday 19th November.

Already the dam of a winner, the first of them is lot 1156. DARVAZA is a half-sister to Darkova, who was sold at the Arqana December Sale in 2011 and has since blossomed as the dam of champion Almanzor and two further Stakes performers. DARVAZA, whose dam Darkara is a Listed-winning half-sister to the dam of another champion in Darjina, is in foal to first season sire Ghaiyyath, the highest-rated horse of 2020.

Also in foal to Ghaiyyath is lot 1165, TANOURA, a Listed winner and Group performer who is already the dam of three Stakes horses, including a Group 3 winning two-year-old in Tanaza and recent Australian Group 3-placed Taramansour. TANOURA is out of Gr.2 Pretty Polly Stakes winner Takarouna, dam of three further Stakes winners.

Lot 1158, Ediyva, is offered in foal to leading sire Siyouni for her first cover. The daughter of Kingman, a winner at three, is a half-sister to two Stakes performers, and hails from the family of Champion 3yo Filly in Ireland Ebadiyla - ancestress of many blacktype horses – as well as Group 1 winners Edabiya, Enzeli and Estimate.

From the same family is lot 1159, EYTARNA, who is a half-sister to the aforementioned Ebadiyla. EYTARNA is already a proven producer of Stakes horses, as the dam Gr.2 Blandford Stakes winner Eziyra, Listed winner Eshera (herself dam of Group performer Erzindjan, who recently topped the Goffs Autumn HIT Sale), and Group-placed Etneya. She is currently expecting a full-sibling to Eziyra by Teofilo.

After being sold by the Aga Khan Studs at this sale in 2019, Sonaiyla became a Group 3 winning sprinter, who also placed at Group 1 level in Ireland. Among this year’s draft of fillies is one from the same family - lot 1351, Sunniyra, placed twice as a two- and three-year-old. The daughter of Zoffany also counts champion Sinndar among the many blacktype winners on the page.

Other fillies of note in the draft include lot 1247, Harannda, a winning daughter of Invincible Spirit. Her dam Harasiya was a Group-winning, Group 1-placed two-year-old, and is a half-sister to dual Classic winner Harzand, multiple Stakes winner Haripour and Listed winner Hazarafa, the latter of whom has gone on to produce two Stakes winners herself.

Lot 1248, Shandra, a filly by Sea The Stars, was a winner as a two-year-old and is a half-sister to the multiple Group winner Shamreen and Graded Stakes winner Shahroze. There is plenty to look forward to in the pedigree to come, as Group winning dam Shareen has a Frankel two-year-old and Shamardal yearling, and is in foal to Night Of Thunder.
