Sinndar’s 3-y-o colt YOUMZAIN took the IVG Preis von Europa Gr.1 at Cologne on Sunday, winning his first Group 1 event and his 2nd Group race.
After holding a position in mid-division during the early stages, YOUMZAIN found a clear passage up the rail to stay on strongly to beat Egerton by half a length at the line.
Jockey Kieran Fallon said: “YOUMZAIN quickened really well and proved today that he’s a genuine Group 1 horse.” Previously, YOUMZAIN had finished second to Group 1 winner Rail Link in the Group 2 Prix Niel at Longchamp after winning the Group 2 Great Voltigeur Stakes at York in August. A progressive individual, YOUMZAIN might now run in either the Gran Premio del Jockey Club in Milan or the Hong Kong Vase.
YOUMZAIN is the second Group 1 winner of Classic and Multiple Group sire Sinndar, following dual Group 1 winner SHAWANDA in 2005. Sinndar has also produced several Group and Listed winners, including Pictavia, VISINDAR, Moonlight Dance, Gale Force and Louvain. In 2007 Sinndar will be standing for the second year in France at Haras de Bonneval.
