Group-placed ALPINE ROSE led the way, selling on Sunday for the overall top price of the sale €550,000. The Linamix full-sister to Group winners Fragrant Mix and Fracassant went to Patricia Boutin’s Suprina agency on behalf of Lady O’Reilly, the Ecurie des Monceaux and Charles-Henri de Moussac. In second place, Célèbre Vadala, a Peintre Célèbre half-sister to Gr 1 scorer Valixir, is destined for Andreas Putsch’s Haras de Saint Pair after being bought for €525,000. Putsch is building up a top-class broodmare band for his stud and Listed winner Célèbre Vadala, whose family also includes Vadapolina and Vadawina, as well as Val Royal, should be an excellent recruit. Darjina’s winning half-sister DARIENA (Highest Honor) was another to be highly-sought after by breeders and she sold for half a million Euros to Marc de Chambure’s Riviera Equine. Tuesday’s session also saw Shadiyna, a Dubai Destination half-sister to Italian Gr 1 winner Shamdala and to the dam of Gr 1 Secretariat Stakes victor Shamdinan, change hands for €280,000. The dual-winning daughter of Irish Oaks-placed Shamdara was bought by trainer Nicolas Clément and she will join his brother Christophe in America. Still on Sunday, the fifth highest price of €260,000 came from Suprina for Vadazing (Spinning World). Although the five-year-old was presented by the Haras du Mézeray, she had been sold two years earlier by the AK Studs and is from the same family as Célèbre Vadala.
A pair of AK-bred daughters of Linamix, Dee Flawless and Honorlina, were popular on Monday’s session, selling for €220,000 and €200,000 respectively. Laurent Benoît of Broadhurst Agency picked up Dee Flawless who is the full sister to Group winners Diamond Mix and Diasilixa and half-sister to the dams of Group scorers Diamond Tango, Diamilina, Diamond Green and Diamonixa, while Johnny McKeever was the successful bidder for Honorlina, the full sister to dual Gr 1 winner Vahorimix.
The Aga Khan Studs were leading vendors of the sale, selling 41 beautifully-bred fillies and mares for a total of just over 3 million Euros.
