The Aga Khan Studs send a classy consignment of three winners to Arqana’s forthcoming Arc Sale on Saturday 1st October at Saint-Cloud. Graduates of the famous racing and breeding operation are always highly-sought after at public sale and past results speak for themselves, with successes at the highest level both on the flat and over jumps. At last year’s sale, the stable presented Rajsaman (Linamix) who had already won the Gr 3 Prix de Fontainebleau and went on to lift the Gr 3 Prix Perth and Gr 2 Prix du Muguet, as well as a pair of third places in Gr 1 company for his new connections. A year earlier, Zaidpour (Red Ransom) changed hands for €80,000 before going on to success at the highest level over hurdles.
This year’s draft is headed by the handsome SANDAGIYR (lot 35), a Dr Fong half-brother to Prix de l’ Arc de Triomphe favourite Sarafina (Refuse To Bend). SANDAGIYR is the winner of two races including the Listed Prix de Pontarmé over a mile and he will also have a chance to shine at Longchamp during Arc weekend as he is due to line up in the Gr 2 Prix Daniel Wildenstein.
Sadler’s Wells colt SHENIYAN (lot 36) has won two races this season at three years old over ten furlongs and a mile and a half. Rated 96, he is out of Listed winner Shemaya (Darshaan) and is a grandson of Prix de Diane heroine Shemaka.
Lot 37 SHIMRAAN (Rainbow Quest) is already a Group winner, having picked up the Gr 2 Prix Eugène Adam over ten furlongs last season as a three-year-old. He was an impressive winner of his latest start over the same distance and will also be in action just prior to the sale in the Gr 2 Prix Dollar at Longchamp. This gelding has a rating of 108. He is from the same family as SHENIYAN, being out of a winning daughter of Shemaya.
