While the major attraction of Arqana’s forthcoming Premier sale at Deauville will be the seven-strong contingent of Sea The Stars’ first yearlings to be sold in Europe, the Aga Khan Studs homebred sires, DALAKHANI, AZAMOUR and SINNDAR will be strongly represented in the August catalogue.
DALAKHANI’s progeny met with success in the ring at last year’s sale, registering an average of 166,000 Euros, well above the overall average figure of 95,000. This year the Arc hero boasts seven yearlings in the Arqana catalogue, with the highlight on paper being a son of champion racemare Alexandrova (Sadler’s Wells, lot 115). Winner of the Epsom, Irish and Yorkshire Oaks, Alexandrova is a half-sister to Group 1 juvenile victrix Magical Romance. Her third offspring is consigned by the Haras de Fresnay-le-Buffard.
The remaining half-dozen “DALAKHANI’s” also feature some exceptional pedigrees:
- lot 12, a half-brother to multiple group winner and Group 1 third Boris De Deauville,
- lot 36, out of a half-sister to Group 1 scorer Atticus and Group 1 runner-up Miss Lago,
- lot 54, a daughter of Group 1 second Rave Reviews,
- lot 152, the second produce of a Group 3 winner,
- lot 159 out of a half-sister to four Stakes winners,
- on the final day of the sale, lot 373 is a colt closely related to Zarkava.
AZAMOUR has sired his first Classic winner this season in the form of Prix de Diane heroine Valyra and he has a pair of Arqana yearlings, both due in the ring during the third session. Lot 239 comes from an excellent family, being out of dual Listed victrix Lunaska, a half sister to Group winner Celimene, while lot 342 is a son of a winning half-sister to Gr 1 Poule d’Essai winner Torrestrella.
Also doubly represented on day Three is SINNDAR. The two youngsters by the Group 1 sire will follow each other into the arena as lots 301 and 302, with the former being a daughter of a half-sister to dual Group 1 winner Natagora, and the latter a daughter of four-time winner and Stakes placed Rafale Béré.
