Just days after arriving at the Aga Khan Studs’ Haras de Bonneval for his first shuttle season, Redoute’s Choice proved extremely popular at the Magic Millions sale in his native Australia.
The dual champion sire topped the third session of the prestigious sale with a colt sold for Aus$800,000 to Sydney trainer John O’Shea. The good-looking youngster is out of Gr 1-winning juvenile Apercu (Encosta de Lago). His price was the second highest of the whole sale.
Redoute’s Choice also sired lot 507, out of Aga Khan mare DARALARA (Barathea), and this colt raised a bid of Aus$575,000 from James Bester. The agent commented, "He is as nice a REDOUTE'S CHOICE colt as I've seen. He has a wonderful action and extends beautifully in front. He has the class to be a Guineas and Derby horse from a great Aga Khan family." Indeed the colt boasts an excellent pedigree, hailing from the same bloodline as champion filly DARJINA. He is the third offspring of his three-time winning and Listed placed dam, whose first progeny sold for Aus$100,000 and Aus$200,000.
In total, ten Redoute’s Choice yearlings were sold at the Magic Millions sale on the Gold Coast, for an aggregate of Aus$3,845,000 and an average of Aus$384,500 (€304,000). This earns the son of Danehill his place at the top of the sires list for the sale on average price of his yearlings.
Redoute’s Choice will be based at the Haras de Bonneval in France for the 2013 northern hemisphere covering season. The Normandy stud will be open to the public on Sunday 3rd February from 9am to 4.30pm, when Redoute’s Choice, Sinndar and Siyouni will be available for viewing.
