Siyouni in demand at Breeze Ups

Young sire tops first European Breeze Up sales.

Haras de Bonneval’s SIYOUNI has been in high demand at the breeze-up sales this month and was responsible for two top prices.

His two-year-old son out of Alfaguara, lot 4, recorded the fastest breeze at the first sale of the year, the Ascot Brightwells Breeze Up Sale. He subsequently topped the sale when selling for £90,000 to Matt Coleman of Anthony Stroud Bloodstock who said of him: “Katie [Walsh] recommended the horse to me, he recorded the fastest breeze this morning and the sire is doing very well, so there was a lot to like about him. He looks strong, early and precocious, so we would have to hope he gets back here [for the Royal Meeting in June].

SIYOUNI enjoyed once again a successful breeze-up sale at La Teste as one of his daughters topped the Osarus Breeze Up Sale when selling to Oceanic Bloodstock for 65,000 Euros. Named Time Goes by, the filly (lot 37) will join Jean-Claude Rouget stable who is familiar with the progeny of SIYOUNI as he trains the sire’s Group-winning daughter and classic hope Ervedya.

Another filly, Diane D’Amour (lot 23), reached 50,000 Euros, the fifth-highest price of the sale, when knocked down to Marc-Antoine Berghgracht, while Blessed Silence (lot 20) was snapped up by agent Paul Nataf for 36,000 Euros. With an average of 50,330 Euros for his three representatives sold, SIYOUNI heads the sires’ standings for this sale.

Prix Jean-Luc Lagardère winner SIYOUNI will be represented by a strong draft of twelve two-year-olds at the forthcoming Arqana Breeze Up Sale on 8th and 9th May. Of these, lot 30 is a daughter of the half-sister to American Gr. 1 scorer Sarafan, and lot 124 Azak is the half-brother to Stakes winners Matwan and Myasun, from the close family of Group 1 winner Sillery.
