The Haras de Bonneval’s SIYOUNI was in fine form at Doha over the festive period, recording a double on 28th December thanks to Pazeer and Mango Tango.
Bred by the Aga Khan Studs, Pazeer won the Al Rayyan Stakes, Qatar’s feature contest for juveniles, on his first outing for new connections. A dual winner in France for trainer Jean-Claude Rouget during the summer, the colt was sold by the Aga Khan Studs at this year Arqana’s Arc Sale, where he was bought by Abdulatif Hussain Al-Emadi for 90,000 Euros. By SIYOUNI, Pazeer is a son of winning mare Parandeh (Kahyasi), who is out of a half-sister to American Gr. 2 scorer Pinfloron, and to French Gr. 3 winners Pinmix and Pinakaral.
For the same owner and trainer Ibrahim Al Malki, Mango Tango enjoyed success in the Gr. 3 Qatar Oaks on her first attempt in Doha. This daugher of SIYOUNI was Group placed on several occasions in France in 2016 before being snapped up for 400,000 Euros, also at Arqana’s Arc Sale. The filly confirmed her class with an impressive win in the ten furlong event at Doha, coasting home four lengths clear of her nearest rival at the post.
These excellent performances conclude another successful year for Classic sire SIYOUNI, who was notably represented by Group 1 placed Volta and Spectre during 2016. The son of Pivotal will stand for a fee of 45,000 Euros at the Haras de Bonneval in 2017. SIYOUNI will be on show, alongside beautifully-bred newcomer Dariyan and Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe winner Sinndar, during the Route des Etalons (French stallion trail) event in Normandy on 21st January (from 9.30am to 4.30pm).
