Qatar Bloodstock and the Aga Khan Studs are delighted to announce that, as part of their partnership initiated in 2015, CHARM SPIRIT will return in 2018 to the Aga Khan’s French base, Haras de Bonneval, for his fourth breeding season.
A triple Gr.1 winner on the track, CHARM SPIRIT will this year be represented by his first crop of yearlings. Last year, the son of Invincible Spirit’s first foals were very well received, including a highest priced colt sold for 140,000 guineas.
David Redvers, Director of Qatar Bloodstock, said: “Thanks to the partnership with the Aga Khan Studs, there is the opportunity for both French and British breeders to use CHARM SPIRIT. With his credentials, it is no surprise that he has proved very popular with breeders on both sides of the Channel and he has produced an exceptional first crop of yearlings.”
Georges Rimaud, manager of the Aga Khan Studs in France, said: “CHARM SPIRIT produced quality first foals. We have several of his yearlings ourselves, they are lovely individuals and we are delighted with them. His first yearlings are due to be sold at the Arqana August Yearling Sale and we expect them to prove very popular.”
CHARM SPIRIT was born and raised at Haras de Bonneval’s neighbouring stud farm, Ecurie des Monceaux. A top class miler, CHARM SPIRIT won six of his nine starts, including three consecutive Group 1s at three, the Prix Jean Prat at Chantilly, the Prix du Moulin de Longchamp and the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot. As a two-year-old, he had won on his second outing and subsequently been placed in the Gr. 1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardère at Longchamp.
CHARM SPIRIT will stand alongside French current leading sire SIYOUNI (Pivotal) and the Gr.1 winning son of Shamardal, DARIYAN. His fee will be announced later this year.
