LE BRIVIDO, excellent runner-up to Brametot in the Poule d’Essai des Poulains, returned to the winners’ enclosure with a stunning success in the Gr.3 Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot on Wednesday. Headed a furlong and a half from home, LE BRIVIDO showed stamina and courage to come back at the leader and dominate by three quarters of a length at the post. The colt now counts three wins in four outings, an almost perfect record for this representative of Prince Faisal.
LE BRIVIDO should improve even further for this experience, as his trainer André Fabre indicated that his charge can still gain in maturity. He declared: “He looked beat with a furlong to go, but he showed his class and courage to come back and win. He raced a little freely, but his action was good and he did it well. He is a relatively inexperienced horse and coming to [Royal] Ascot was a new experience for him. I had no doubt he was a good horse and what I liked is that he showed he will get a mile.” His next target is likely to be the Gr.1 Prix Jacques le Marois, back over the mile at Deauville on 18th August.
LE BRIVIDO is part of SIYOUNI’s third generation which was conceived at €7,000. Bred in the west of France for Mr and Mrs Bugada, he had been sold as a yearling by Haras de Clairefontaine, before being presented at the Arqana Breeze Up Sale by Longway Stables where he was purchased by Ted Voute for €105,000 on behalf of Prince Faisal.
LE BRIVIDO joins ERVEDYA as progeny of Haras de Bonneval sire SIYOUNI to shine at the prestigious Royal Ascot meeting. The Aga Khan filly had lifted the Coronation Stakes ahead of Champion Found as one of her three top-level successes in 2015.
