CHARM SPIRIT, Qatar Bloodstock’s top-class miler who stood at the Haras de Bonneval in 2016 and will return in 2018, will be represented by six of his first crop of yearlings at Arqana’s forthcoming Deauville sale.
The triple Group 1 winning son of Invincible Spirit has been made available to both British and French breeders through the partnership between Qatar Bloodstock and the Aga Khan Studs, and has been bred to some elite broodmares. His first generation is sure to attract plenty of interest in Normandy.
The first son of CHARM SPIRIT to enter the Elie de Brignac ring will be none other than a half-brother to dual Royal Ascot heroine Qemah. Offered as lot 10 by the Haras du Cadran, the colt is out of multiple Stakes placed Kartica (Rainbow Quest), whose daughter Qemah counts the Gr. 1 Coronation Stakes, Gr. 1 Prix Rothschild and Gr. 2 Duke of Cambridge Stakes among her successes.
The Ecurie des Monceaux, who raised CHARM SPIRIT himself, present a pair of yearlings by the young sire. Lot 207 is the second son of winning mare Miss Plimsoll (Arch), a full-sister to dual Group victrix and Gr. 1 Prix Vermeille third Pomology, while lot 214 is a daughter of multiple Group winner Naissance Royale (Giant’s Causeway), who has already produced Group placed Jadhaba.
From the Haras des Capucines, lot 215 is a half-sister to Gr. 3 Autumn Stakes winner and Gr. 2 runner-up Rockinante, and the same stud also consigns lot 269, a half-brother to three Stakes performers and notably Gr. 1 Prix du Jockey-Club second Super Celebre. This is the close family of triple Group 1 winner Stacelita, the dam of this year’s Japanese Oaks winner Soul Stirring.
The last of the half-dozen CHARM SPIRIT yearlings to go under the hammer will be lot 275, a colt from the Haras du Cadran. Out of seven-time winner Trip To The Moon (Fasliyev), whose successes include the Listed Prix Isola Bella, the colt is a half-brother to Gr. 3 victrix Trois Lunes, dam of recent Gr. 3 winner and Gr. 1 Prix Jean Prat runner-up Trais Fluors.
The Aga Khan Studs are pleased to welcome CHARM SPIRIT back to the Haras de Bonneval for the 2018 breeding season.
