At the end of day one of the Arqana August Yearling Sale, the Aga Khan Studs stallions are responsible for three of the top six lots.
Lot 133, a SEA THE STARS colt out of Listed winner Shamtee from the illustrious family of Helen Street, was the second top lot when selling to Chauvigny Global Equine for €675,000. He was consigned by Haras du Mont dit Mont.
The third top lot of the day was lot 122 from Ecurie des Monceaux, a son of SIYOUNI and Listed winner Sapa Inca, a sister to Group 1 winner Johannes Vermeer. The colt, bred on the very successful SIYOUNI/Galileo cross, was purchased by €580,000 by Oceanic Bloodstock on behalf of Coolmore and White Birch Farm.
Another SIYOUNI in demand was lot 62, a half-sister to Classic winner Native Trail. Consigned by Haras d’Haspel, she fetched a bid of €550,000 from Kieron Lawler on behalf of Al Shira'aa Racing.
SeaTheStars and SIYOUNI are the first and second leading sires by average after day one (more than one lot sold), at €355,000 and €252,000 respectively.
Leading second crop sire ZARAK meanwhile had three yearlings sell today for for an average of €98,333. They included lot 87, a colt from the family of Gr.1 winning sprinter Porlezza. Consigned by Coulonces Sales, he was purchased by BBA Ireland for €120,000.
