SEA THE STARS has had another exceptional year on the track in 2022, with 22 Stakes winners and four Group 1 winners including Baaeed, Europe’s highest-rated racehorse, and Gr.1 British Champions Fillies & Mares Stakes winner and Oaks runner-up Emily Upjohn. He finishes the season as the leading sire in Ireland by prize money and third leading sire overall in Europe.
His success also translated to the sales, with 10 of his yearlings sold for over half a million euros, including two for more than €960,000.
The sire of over 100 Stakes winners of over 200 Stakes races will stand for €180,000 in 2023.
French sire sensation SIYOUNI provided top-rated European two-year-old filly Tahiyra in 2022, who goes into the winter as one of the favourites for next season’s Classics. He has sired more than 30 Stakes horses this season, and has proved once again to be a success at the sales, with his yearlings selling for up to €2.1 million. He was the fourth leading active sire by yearling average (at over €335,000), and he sits among the top sires in Europe by prize money for the fifth consecutive year.
SIYOUNI will stand for €150,000 in 2023.
ZARAK’s sharp ascent of the stallion ranks saw him lead the 2022 European sire’s list by percentage winners to runners, at 68%. His exceptional statistics are further enhanced by his figure of 19% Stakes performers to runners and 11% Stakes winners to runners from just two crops of racing age. Three of his Stakes horses have placed at Group 1 level – the Classic placed duo La Parisienne and Times Square, and Group 2 winner Purplepay.
ZARAK will stand for €60,000 in 2023.
DARIYAN, a son of sire of sires Shamardal, offers breeders good value access to one of the best Aga Khan families. His four Stakes performers of 2022 include Classic prep winner Mister Saint Paul, who subsequently sold at the Arqana Arc Sale for €230,000, and Group 2 runner-up Galaxie Gold. More than two-thirds of his progeny have won or placed to date.
DARIYAN will stand for €5,000 in 2023.
