Spring heralds the return of the European breeze up sales, and Aga Khan Studs stallions SEA THE STARS, SIYOUNI and ZARAK all have interesting juveniles on offer.
All three stallions boast lifetime two-year-old winners to runners statistics in excess of 33%, and all were represented by two-year-old Stakes winners in 2022 - including Flying Honours for Ireland’s leading sire SEA THE STARS and Tahiyra for his French counterpart SIYOUNI, who are among the favourites for the 2023 Classics.
ZARAK meanwhile can demonstrate a Stakes horses to runners strike rate of 12% with his first and second crop of two-year-olds, ahead even of his stablemate SIYOUNI (11%), who has three Group 1 winning juveniles to his name.
The Tattersalls Craven Breeze Up Sale, from 17th and 19th April, begins the season, and will include three colts by SEA THE STARS and two by SIYOUNI, including close relations to Group 2 winning juvenile Gustav Klimt and dual Group 1 placed sprinter City Light.
SEA THE STARS will also feature at the Goffs UK Breeze Up, via a colt out of a winning Dansili half-sister to his Stakes winning daughter Night Of Life.
SIYOUNI has 11 two-year-olds catalogued for the Arqana Breeze-Up Sale, among them a full brother to last year’s Gr.2 German 1000 Guineas winner Txope, a colt out of Gr.1 winner Ribbons and a filly out of a half-sister to six-time Group 1 winner Midday, as well as relations to Immortal Verse, Intello, La Cressonniere, Lady Marion, Mondialiste and Tenebrism.
The three SEA THE STARS two-year-olds include a half-sister to six Stakes horses (including a Group winner by Sea The Moon), and the four ZARAKs include a full sister to a winner out of a Stakes-placed mare.
The breeze up action returns to Tattersalls Ireland on 26th May, where the three two-years-olds by SEA THE STARS on offer include a colt out of an Oasis Dream half-sister to The Fugue, a half-brother to Stakes winner Villefranche and a filly closely related to Group 1 winner Cloth Of Stars.
SIYOUNI will proffer a filly from the family of Moonlight Cloud and Imagine, as well as a grandson of a Grade 1 winner, while the two ZARAKs catalogued encompass a colt out of a full-sister to Stakes winning two-year-old High Award from the family of Gr.1 Middle Park Stakes winner The Last Lion, and a filly from the family of Group 1 winning sprinter Emaraaty Ana.
