Paddington was the impressive three-and-three-quarter-length winner of the Gr.1 St James’s Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot on Tuesday.
The Classic winning SIYOUNI colt, who last month took the Gr.1 Irish 2000 Guineas by two lengths, finished well ahead of English 2000 Guineas winner Chaldean, and is now unbeaten in four starts this season.
Trainer Aidan O’Brien said: "He’s an incredible horse. He's very exciting, isn't he? John [Magnier] said to me that this horse would get further than a mile if you wanted him to, no problem.
“The lads will have to think about whether they want to go to Goodwood for the Sussex Stakes next. We'll tell them after 10 days how he is, and then they'll decide between themselves what they want to do. But he has all the options, because he has the speed to be a top miler. It's very exciting.”
Paddington was bred by Dayton Investments Ltd, and sold by Ecurie des Monceaux at the 2021 Arqana October Yearling Sale for €420,000 to the Coolmore, Peter Brant and Westerberg partnership. He is one of two Group 1 winners for SIYOUNI this year, along with Aga Khan Studs homebred Tahiyra.
