Blue-blooded Wertheimer homebred Aventure was the impressive winner of the Gr.3 Prix de Royaumont on Jockey Club day at Chantilly.
The SEA THE STARS filly, a half-sister to Group 1 winner Left Hand, could now head to the Prix de Diane in two weeks’ time after cruising easily into the lead in the final furlong to win by seven lengths.
“She had run a good race on her seasonal debut and had been working brilliantly since,” said trainer Christophe Ferland. “We had decided to run this race first, as a security, and see from there if we could try the Prix de Diane. She was most impressive, no doubt. There was good rhythm in the race, she closed on the bridle and when Maxime switched her out she was flying. She is not very tall, but she has a real kick and a great action. She will tell us how she is and I'll then talk with the owners and Pierre Yves Bureau to reach a decision.”
Earlier in the card, the Wertheimer brothers saw another of their SEA THE STARS homebreds, Sosie, finish an excellent third in the Gr.1 Prix du Jockey Club.
SEA THE STARS also enjoyed Graded Stakes success in the USA over the weekend, with globetrotter Ottoman Fleet victorious in the Gr.3 Arlington Stakes at Churchill Downs for Godolphin. The five-year-old has been a model of consistency, winning six and placing in 10 of his 18 outings to date, including Group race success in the USA and the UK and as a Group 1 runner-up at Meydan.
