The Autumn Horses in Training sales at Goffs have been the source in recent times of Group 1 placed Tashkhan, Group 2 winner Bashiyr (Irish Sequel) and international Stakes performers Rayounpour, Shelir and Taramansour. Among horses sold at last year’s sale were Zariygann, who has since won two races over hurdles including most recently by six and a half lengths on 25th September, and Rauzan, who notched up a run of four consecutive victories over hurdles this summer.
10 Aga Khan horses will go under the hammer next week. They include 2024 winning three-year-olds MASOUN (lot 65), a son of Too Darn Hot, and RIDHAZ (lot 64), a full brother to Riyazan, Stakes winner and Group 2 placed in Hong Kong. Lot 63 meanwhile is SHAYZANN, a winning Shamardal gelding from the family of Shartash, who won at Stakes level for new connections following his sale in 2023.
In France, the Autumn Sale at Arqana in the past two years has produced the likes of Stakes winner Douriann; Stakes performer Carini; Sardem, a dual winner in Qatar; and Mirabad, a winner and twice runner-up in four starts over hurdles to date.
This year’s draft of seven horses includes Siyouni colt ELBAZ (lot 452), who has won twice and been twice Stakes placed in eight starts at two and three, as well as another winning son of Siyouni in RIDPOUR (lot 385), who has placed again since the catalogue was printed. Lot 383, ROYAD, is now a winner, having won a handicap on his first try up in distance, while lot 450, MANDALAY, has won two races already in 2024.
