The green and red silks of H.H. the Aga Khan were carried to victory by not one but two Classic winning fillies in 2024, thanks to Gr.1 Poule d’Essai des Pouliches winner ROUHIYA and Gr.1 Oaks winner EZELIYA.
Both results provided significant pedigree updates for several relatives who sold at the breeding stock sales in 2023 - most notably Eziva, a half-sister to EZELIYA sold to Watership Down Stud at Goffs November Sale, and Rodainah, a half-sister to ROUHIYA purchased by David Salabi at Arqana Breeding Stock Sale.
The sale at Goffs last year also included half-sisters to 2024 Stakes winners Sumiha and Liari, while the Arqana sale also unearthed half-sisters to subsequent Gr.2 King Edward VII Stakes winner and Group 1 placed Calandagan, dual Group 3 winner and Group 1 placed Eliyass and TDN Rising Star two-year-old Mandanaba.
This year at Goffs, a draft of 21 fillies and mares will offer buyers another chance to access burgeoning pedigrees of the Aga Khan Studs, as well as a first opportunity to buy mares in foal to first season sires VADENI and EREVANN.
All 9 of the mares in foal have already produced winners, including DARKAZINIA, already dam of two blacktype horses; EBAYYA, a Stakes performer herself from the family of EZELIYA and MAYSIYANA, whose daughter Masaiya has won since the catalogue was printed.
Of the fillies, the illustrious ‘E’ family is again represented by ESHNUNNA, while HASNA, SHELAKA, TANAZADIA and DABOYA are all winners, the latter recently on 1st November. TANAZADIA is also a half-sister to Tangapour, a recent four-length two-year-old winner by Wootton Bassett, while SULAIYMA is a half-sister to the aforementioned Sumiha and KALAIA is half-sister to 2024 Group 1 winner Kalapour.
The Aga Khan Studs will also consign 20 well-bred fillies and mares at the Arqana Breeding Stock Sale.
Of the six mares in foal, all five with runners have produced winners, and three have produced blacktype perfomers, including BEHNASA, a Dansili half-sister to Group 1 winner Behkabad who is in foal to Champion Three-Year-Old VADENI, and ELENNGA, a winning half-sister to triple Group 1 winner ERVEDYA (dam of EREVANN). TANGARA is a SIYOUNI half-sister to Group winner Tariyana, and sells in foal to Churchill for her first cover.
Among the fillies are RIDALA, a daughter of Group 1 winner Ridasiyna; ZERAFA, a winning grand-daughter of ZARKAVA; and SAYORA, who is out of a Stakes winning half-sister to leading sire SIYOUNI.
