The foaling season ended on 26 May with the birth of a full brother to the juvenile Group 1 winner Rosanara, out of SINNDAR and the Linamix mare Rosawa. The 2011 breeding season counted 127 foalings in France, Ireland and the USA.
Some of the best Aga Khan mares were sent to Sea The Stars last year, including the Champion Zarkava who gave birth to a colt while her dam, Zarkasha, foaled a bay filly by the same sire. The dam of the young leading sire AZAMOUR and the dam of triple Group 1 winner Darjina both gave birth to fillies by Sea The Stars. The dams of Group 1 winners Behkabad and Kalanisi respectively produced colts by the Champion. As for Vadaza, the dam of Group 1 winner Vadawina, she delivered a good looking filly by Sea The Stars and is now in foal to AZAMOUR. Her daughter Vadawina, who is responsible for Group 2 performer Vadamar, returned to DALAKHANI this year.
Another smart performer by DALAKHANI, Baraan, 3rd in the Prix du Jockey Club earlier this month, had a little sister by Desert Style back in January. Champion Darjina herself produced a tall DALAKHANI colt on 26 March, her first foal. Another maiden, the Group 2 placed Shemima who is out of Gilltown’s grey stallion, had her first foal, a filly by Dansili. Group 2 winner Ashalanda, as well as the Group 1 producer Artistique, dam of Montmartre, both produced SINNDAR foals in France.
Princess Zahra Aga Khan’s Champion filly Mandesha travelled to the USA and foaled an Elusive Quality filly this year. French Oaks winner Daryaba, who is also the dam of Group 1 winner Daryakana, took the same journey and produced a Street Cry colt.
Finally, Group 1 scorer Rajsaman’s dam, Rose Quartz delivered a foal out of Invincible Spirit and is now in foal to Sea The Stars.
