The Aga Khan Studs send a 19-strong consignment of colts and geldings to the forthcoming Goffs Sale of horses in training on 28th October, including a half-brother to champion racehorse Sinndar. All aged either two or three years old, they include both winners and untried youngsters, rich in potential for both the flat and jumping disciplines.
The trio of winning three-year-olds Takapour, Sonapour and Adilapour are likely to be the highlights of the draft. From Michael Halford’s Copper Beech Stables, Takapour has recently won twice over 1 mile 2 ½ furlongs. The son of Shamardal is a half brother to two winners under both codes. Stablemate Sonapour (Alhaarth) has won once over 1 mile 3 ½ furlongs and been placed five times. Out of a half sister to Sinndar, Sonapour is himself a half brother to Simarian, winner of a Group 2 hurdle at Cheltenham. John Oxx’s Currabeg Stables are represented by Adilapour, a son of Azamour who won as a juvenile and at three years old. He is a grandson of Group 3 winner Adaiyka and out of a winning half sister to dual Group 3 scorer Adilabad.
Other well-bred lots to have already won are Alayir and Sinntani. The former is an Azamour half brother to three Pattern winners, including Group 2 winner over hurdles Alaivan. The latter is none other than a half brother of dual Derby and Arc hero Sinndar, by this year’s Jockey Club winning sire Dalakhani. The unraced Ebazziyr also comes from an illustrious family, being a Cape Cross son of dual Group 1 winner Ebadiyla who has already produced Group 1 winning hurdler Ebaziyan and Eyshal, Group 1 third on the flat.
The quartet of unraced juvenile colts all have pages rich in black type. Lot 72 Hazariban (Kahyasi) is a son of Irish and Yorkshire Oaks third Hazarista. He will be followed into the ring by Dawerann (Medicean), who descends from the same line as Darshaan, Darara and Dar Re Mi; Dalasiri (Dylan Thomas), out of a half sister of Daylami and Dalakhani, and finally Zaroud (Zamindar) who is closely related to the exceptional Zarkava and her Group 1 winning brother over hurdles Zarkandar.
