Hot on the heels of the popularity of the son of Redoute’s Choice and Daralara at the Magic Millions yearling sales on the Gold Coast, the successful partnership of the Aga Khan and Arrowfield Studs was highlighted on the racetrack.
Vadashan, who is the first son of Listed winner VADSALINA (Sagacity) and Redoute’s Choice, impressed when opening his account on the first time of asking at Kembla Grange. Carrying top weight, the three-year-old colt was not extended to justify favouritism in the Maiden Handicap over the distance of seven furlongs. His handler Paul Messara holds Vadashan in high regard and believes he is an exciting prospect for the future.
Vadashan was sold for Aus$440,000 at the Inglis yearling Sale, and represents the colours of Saeed Nasser Al Romaithi and Mrs E. Coleman.
He is a member of the first generation produced from the band of Aga Khan broodmares which travelled to Australia in 2008 for this joint breeding venture with Arrowfield Stud. His dam VADSALINA lifted the Listed Prix Isonomy during her racing career in France and she is the half-sister to Gr 1 Prix Saint-Alary heroine and Prix de Diane fourth VADAWINA (Unfuwain) and to dual Gr 3 victrix Vadapolina (Trempolino).
She foaled a colt by Flying Spur born in 2010 and a 2011 colt by Starcraft.
Vadashan’s sire, dual Australian champion stallion Redoute’s Choice, recently arrived for the Northern Hemisphere breeding season at the Haras de Bonneval. He can be seen alongside Sinndar and Siyouni at the Aga Khan’s Normandy Stud during the “Route des Etalons” event on Sunday 3rd February.
