The Aga Khan Studs will be represented by a quartet of individuals at the forthcoming Goffs February sale on 14th February. All aged three years old, the four have yet to win although lot 377 ZAINDA placed second in December at Dundalk for trainer John Oxx. This daughter of Dr Fong is the first offspring of black-type performer Zafayra (Nayef), who has three winning half-siblings. Zainda’s third dam Zafzala (Kahyasi) is a Listed scorer and Group 2 runner up, and she is a half-sister to Group 2 winner Zerpour and multiple Graded hurdle winner Zabadi.
Also trained by John Oxx, lot 265 AKDAM (Dubai Destination) raced twice as a juvenile. The gelding is a half-brother to three winners including Listed scorer Aklan, while his dam is a half-sister to Group 3 victrix and Group 1 third Akdarena. His third dam produced a host of successful individuals under both codes, notably Group 2 winner Akbar and Group 2 winning hurdler Akasian.
Michael Halford’s Copper Beech Stables is doubly represented for the Aga Khan Studs, by lots 261 and 388. The former, MAZANDARAN, is an unraced son of Tiger Hill. He is the first foal of his dam, dual winning Dalakhani mare Massiyma, who is a half-sister to Gr 1 Irish St Leger runner up in 2012 Massiyn. Mazandaran’s third dam Masmouda was a prolific Stakes performer, winner of one Group 3 contest and placed in several other Group events including third in the Gr 1 Prix de Diane, and also boasts three Stakes-winning half-brothers.
Lot 388 ADELA (Dr Fong) is a granddaughter of Gr 3 Prix Chloé winner Adaiyka (Doyoun), dam of dual Group 3 winner Adilabad. The line of her fourth dam, Listed winner Adjarida, traces down to Scandinavian champion Alyshakeys and Gr 2 July Stakes scorer Libranno, as well as talented South African and UAE Group performer Front House.
