The enduring success of bloodlines is a recognised quality of the Aga Khan Studs breeding and the operation’s stallions are highly accomplished at bringing their class to the maternal side of pedigrees.
SINNDAR has already proved his worth in this role on several occasions and he took the honours once again at Longchamp on Sunday as the broodmare sire of Flotilla. This daughter of Mizzen Mast lifted her second Group 1 victory when storming home to take the Poule d’Essai des Pouliches. Winner of the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies’ Turf last November, the filly is a daughter of SINNDAR mare Louvain who won the Gr 3 Miesque Stakes at Hollywood Park. In addition to Flotilla, who could now be aimed at the Gr 1 Prix de Diane, Louvain is also the dam of Gr 3 victrix Louvakhova.
Three years younger than SINNDAR, DALAKHANI has had fewer opportunities in this field than his Aga Khan Studs contempory but has already begun to make his mark. The Arc winner is the damsire of impressive Lingfield Derby Trial scorer Nevis, who now represents a Classic hope for Ballydoyle. Nevis is the first son of Moonstone, who offered her sire DALAKHANI his first Classic success as a stallion when winning the Gr 1 Irish Oaks in 2008.
DALAKHANI is also the sire of Lava Flow, who took the Listed Prix de la Seine at Longchamp on Sunday. The filly was winning her second race in a row and became her sire's 31st Stakes winner. DALAKHANI enjoyed a successful fortnight, as four of his products won at Stakes level, headed by Group 1 winner Reliable Man, and three more products placed in Stakes events.
