Leading first-season sire SIYOUNI pursues his rich vein of form, as Souvenir Delondres offers the Bonneval stallion a second Group victory, and Passiflore becomes his 15th individual winner. At the same time, Gilltown Stud’s DALAKHANI continues to perform at Stakes level, thanks most recently to his son Second Step.
The highly-consistent Souvenir Delondres was the decisive winner of the Gr. 3 Prix Eclipse, beating the colts over six furlongs at Chantilly. The filly, already a Stakes winner after lifting the LR Listed Prix de la Vallée d’Auge in Deauville, has never finished outside the first three in five outings for trainer Jonathan Pease and owner Christopher Wright. The second Group winner for her sire SIYOUNI after Ervedya, Souvenir Delondres is the best offspring to date for her dam Dilag (Almutawakel).
Prolific young sire SIYOUNI recorded his fifteenth individual winner on Monday as Passiflore opened her account at the second time of asking in a mile event at Compiègne. This promising filly trained by Pia Brandt is a granddaughter of the Aga Khan Studs’ Group 3 victrix Linnga.
Not to be outdone, DALAKHANI registered his 38th career Stakes victory thanks to Second Step , winner of the Listed Finale Stakes at the Curragh. The improving three-year-old, out of Sadler’s Wells mare My Dark Rosaleen, has now won three of his six races for Luca Cumani.
SIYOUNI and DALAKHANI will both be strongly represented at the forthcoming Arqana October Yearling Sale, held in Deauville from 20th to 23rd of the month. The catalogue features 16 progeny of the precocious SIYOUNI and three colts by Group 1 sire DALAKHANI.
DALAKHANI’s produce include a full brother to Classic winner and sire Reliable Man, and a son of Group 1 winner Germance. Among the SIYOUNI yearlings, notable entries are a half-brother to Group-winning sprinter Myasun, and a half-sister to dual Group 3 winner and Group 1 third Calvados Blues.
