The Marcel Boussac stock yielded yet another subsequently important line in Darazina and her dam Djebellina, a daughter of his La Coupe de Maisons-Laffitte winner Dalama.
Going back to the 1942-foaled Pretty Lady, the further reaches of this family also produced Boussac’s Grand Criterium winner Abdos, the damsire of Darshaan. It has also remained successful in other hands, with one branch producing the top American sprinter Street Boss.
In the Aga Khan’s case, much of the success derives from Darazina and her daughters Daralinsha, winner of the 1987 Prix Minerve, and Listed winner Darata. Between them, lines stemming from those siblings provided the Aga Khan Studs with its Classic winners Darsi, Darjina and Daryaba; Daralinsha’s lines supplied Darsi, who took the 2006 Prix du Jockey Club just a season prior to the championship three-year-old campaign of Darjina, winner of the 2007 Prix d'Astarte, Prix du Moulin and Poule d'Essai des Pouliches (in which her owner Princess Zahra Aga Khan became the fourth generation of her family to win the race), while Daryata foaled the 1999 Prix de Diane heroine Daryaba. In turn, Daryaba produced Hong Kong Vase winner Daryakana, whose own quintet of Stakes-winning progeny included Prix Ganay winner Dariyan.
The Aga Khan-bred Darkova also added her footnote to this line by producing champion Almanzor, another winner of the Prix du Jockey-Club, for Haras d’Etreham.
