Already heroine of the Poule d’Essai des Pouliches at Longchamp, ERVEDYA lifted the Gr.1 Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot on Friday 19th June, to be crowned Champion European filly over the mile.
The daughter of SIYOUNI earned this title by beating two highly-regarded Irish fillies, Found and Lucida, runners up in the Irish and English Guineas respectively. The victory was earned by the whole Aga Khan Studs team, as ERVEDYA hails from a classic maternal line, crossed by homebred stallion SIYOUNI, prepared in Pau by Jean-Claude Rouget and perfectly ridden by stable’s first jockey Christophe Soumillon. ERVEDYA is unbeaten in 2015 as prior to her triumph in the French Guineas she had won the Gr. 3 Prix Imprudence on her seasonal debut. Her next race could be the Gr. 1 Prix Rothschild at Deauville on 2nd August, before meeting her male counterparts during the second semester.
ERVEDYA offers her sire SIYOUNI a second consecutive Group 1 victory. The Haras de Bonneval inmate therefore confirms his place among the best stallions in Europe, just months after leading the standings for first-season sires with his first juveniles in 2014.
Less than an hour after the exploits of ERVEDYA, Gilltown Stud sire DALAKHANI took his share of Royal Ascot honours thanks to his son ARAB DAWN, winner of the prestigious Duke of Edinburgh Stakes. This elegant grey horse showed both class and courage to secure success in this mile and a half contest, the fourth victory of his career.
