The Aga Khan Studs recorded a European Group race double during the last week with two well-bred individuals. The first offspring of Group 1 winner Daryakana, DARIYAN ran out the comfortable winner of the Gr.2 Prix Eugène Adam at Maisons-Laffitte, and the exciting TANAZA, a daughter of Dalakhani’s Listed winning daughter Tanoura, maintained her unbeaten record to lift the Gr.3 Silver Flash Stakes at Leopardstown.
DARIYAN produced an instant turn of speed inside the final furlong and a half of the Gr.2 Prix Eugène Adam, passing his rivals easily to win with something in hand. The son of Shamardal proved most effective over his preferred distance of ten furlongs, after being beaten less than two lengths by the future Grand Prix de Paris winner Erupt in the Gr.3 Prix du Lys over a mile and a half. The colt will now be kept to this trip, with his next objective being the Gr.2 Prix Guillaume d’Ornano at Deauville on 15th August.
DARIYAN hails from an excellent Aga Khan Studs maternal line, being the son of Gr.1 Hong Kong Vase winner Daryakana (Selkirk), herself a half-sister to Group 2 scorer Daramsar, while DARIYAN’s granddam is none other than Gr.1 Prix de Diane and Prix Vermeille heroine Daryaba.
The highly-promising TANAZA was described by her trainer Dermot Weld as « a class act » after she powered home to secure the Gr.3 Silver Flash Stakes. Unbeaten in two outings, both over seven furlongs at Leopardstown, the filly is likely to have one more run this season, in the Gr.1 Moyglare Stud Stakes at the Curragh on 13th September, before being prepared for the 2016 1,000 Guineas.
TANAZA provided the latest advertisement of the qualities of Dalakhani as a broodmare sire. Indeed the filly is a daughter of Dubawi and Tanoura, a Listed-winning and multiple Group-placed mare by Dalakhani, who has already produced TANIYAR, a dual winner and Listed placed colt this year in France.
