Classic miler ERVEDYA returned to Longchamp, the scene of her triumph in the Gr.1 Poule d’Essai des Pouliches, on Sunday with a new success at the highest level.
Her consecration in the Gr.1 Prix du Moulin de Longchamp represents the third Group 1 victory for the daughter of SIYOUNI, after the French Guineas and Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot. Up against her elders and male counterparts, H.H. the Aga Khan’s filly confirmed her place among Europe’s elite milers with a storming success on Arc Trials day.
ERVEDYA was momentarily denied a clear run in the straight, but produced a stunning turn of foot inside the final furlong once a gap opened up to score cosily by a length. ERVEDYA beat Akatea, with 2014 Breeders’ Cup Mile winner Karakontie back in third place.
Jean-Claude Rouget’s charge will now be rested over the winter, but will return to training for a four-year-old campaign. The winner of seven of her ten races, ERVEDYA has never finished outside the first three and is a perfect ambassador for her sire SIYOUNI. The filly represents the first generation by the Haras de Bonneval sire, leading second crop sire in Europe and father to a total of 12 Stakes performers.
On the same Arc Trials card, DALAKHANI’s daughter CANDARLIYA put up a superb performance to take second place in the Gr.1 Prix Vermeille, behind the exceptional Trêve.
Three-year-old CANDARLIYA was stepping up to Group 1 company for the first time after completing a series of four wins, including the Listed Prix de Thiberville and Gr.3 Prix Minerve.
The Alain de Royer-Dupré-trained filly should race again this season and like ERVEDYA, she will also remain in training in 2016 when she should develop into a top-class middle distance prospect.
