The Aga Khan Studs will be strongly represented at Arqana’s forthcoming Summer Sale, held this year in Deauville on 4th and 5th July. A total of 19 Aga Khan-bred horses in training are entered in the catalogue which last year produced future talented hurdlers Ranjaan, Darroun, Kazlian and Divapour.
Among those to have already tasted success on the track, Mikel Delzangles presents KHALIDABAD who has an important update as he lost his maiden tag at the second time of asking at Longchamp on 11th June in a B race. This son of Nayef is out of a half-sister to Group 1 winner and sire Khalkevi. Presented by the same trainer, SHALAMZAR won one of his two outings as a juvenile last season. This son of Selkirk is a close relative of Group 1 winner Shawanda.
Jean-Claude Rouget sends the consistent ELMAL (Dalakhani) who has won over ten furlongs and placed in his three other outings. He is the first offspring of Gr 3 runner-up Elva. Another winner from the Rouget stable is TAKIYRWAN (Rock Of Gibraltar), from a solid Aga Khan family featuring Torjoun and Top Ville.
The draft from Alain de Royer Dupré’s stable includes DIAKALI who recently finished a close fourth in the Swiss Derby at Frauenfeld to add to his second and third places at Parisian tracks. This grey colt is a son of Sinndar and Group 3 winner Diasilixa, a full sister to Diamond Mix (Gr 2 winner). John Oxx’s Irish stable will be represented by well-bred colt ALINDJAR who placed in a maiden, a Nayef half-brother to Gr 3 scorer Alanza, out of Gr 1 second Alasha (Barathea).
