SARKIYLA has barely put a foot wrong during her brief racing career to date, with four wins to her name and a third place in only five outings. The daughter of Oasis Dream did not make her first public appearance until May of this year and after winning the Listed Prix Bagatelle over a mile at Chantilly on 27th July, she has now opened her Group account. Alain de Royer Dupré supplemented his charge into the Gr 3 Prix Lieurey and that decision paid off handsomely as SARKIYLA showed an electric burst of acceleration in the straight before courageously fighting off the attack of second placed Foreign Tune.
Her handler remarked after the race, « she’s a beautiful-looking filly who comes from a nice family so this result bodes well for the future. »
SARKIYLA is the second foal of her winning dam Sarlisa (Rainbow Quest), whose granddam SAFITA was runner-up in both the Gr 1 Poule d’Essai des Pouliches and Prix Saint-Alary before producing Lockinge Stakes winner Safawan. SARKIYLA has a juvenile half-sister Sarvana (Dubai Destination) in training with Mikel Delzangles and a yearling half-sister by Azamour.
On the same Deauville card, the promising ASHKIYR (Rock Of Gibraltar) finished a good third in the Gr 2 Prix Guillaume d’Ornano. The impressive winner of a conditions race at Chantilly in June, ASHKIYR is the full brother to Listed scorer Ashiyla. His dam Asharna (Darshaan) is a half-sister to Ashkalani.
