Gilltown Stud stallions SEA THE STARS, AZAMOUR and DALAKHANI will all be represented by progeny at forthcoming breeze-up auctions in France and England.
SEA THE STARS has his first juveniles this season and three of these feature in the Arqana catalogue for the sale on 10th and 11th May. They are sure to be highly sought-after, with maternal lines to match the quality of their sire. Salamargo (lot 13), out of Listed-winning Danehill mare Navajo Moon, is a close relative of French champion sire Poliglote, while lot 48 is a half-brother to Group 1 winner and stallion Naaqoos and lot 59 is a filly out of a Montjeu half-sister to Coronation Stakes victrix Maids Causeway.
A trio of AZAMOUR two-year-olds will also go under the hammer at Saint-Cloud. Lot 54 is a grandson of dual Irish Group 1 scorer Tarascon and the pair of fillies are lot 62, whose dam is the half-sister to a host of Group winners, including the dam of Japanese star Victoire Pisa, and lot 131, from the family of Arc hero Dylan Thomas and last year’s 1,000 Guineas winner Homecoming Queen.
Tattersall’s Craven Sales at Newmarket from 16th to 18th April will see three DALAKHANI youngsters enter the ring and these also boast excellent pedigrees. Lot 29 is a grey colt out of a the full sister to Group 1 winner Adieu (El Corredor). Lot 55 is a granddaughter of Oaks and Irish Oaks runner-up Royal Ballerina (Sadler’s Wells), and lot 152, a close relative to Croco Rouge, is a three-quarter brother to dual Group winner Centennial.
The breeze-up season commenced well for Aga Khan sires, with a son of AZAMOUR selling for £28,000 at Goffs Kempton. This represents a successful pinhooking operation for connections, who had picked up the half-brother to two winners for 14,000 Guineas from Tattersalls Book 2 last October.
