Exciting young stallion SEA THE STARS reached a new landmark at Yarmouth on Wednesday as his daughter Hadaatha became her sire’s tenth individual Stakes winner.
On her return to action after a four-month break, Hadaatha swept through the field in the LR John Musker Stakes to win the ten furlong event stylishly by three-quarters of a length.
The lightly-raced filly had made a winning debut over seven furlongs at Newmarket in April, before taking third place a month later in a Listed contest at Newbury.
Her handler Roger Varian was delighted with the performance, “ We’ve always liked this filly. She has a bit of speed but would probably get a mile and a half. ” This leaves plenty of options for Hadaatha, who holds entries in the Gr. 1 Prix de l’Opéra, Gr. 2 Prix de Royallieu on Arc weekend and Gr. 1 British Champions Fillies and Mares Stakes at Ascot.
Owned and bred by Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum, who is also owner of SEA THE STARS star filly Taghrooda, Hadaatha is the best offspring to date of her dam, 1000 Guineas third Hathrah (Linamix).
SEA THE STARS, whose progeny have already lifted four Group 1 titles through the exploits of Taghrooda, Sea The Moon and Vazira, stands at Gilltown Stud in Ireland. The unbeaten Arc winner boasts most impressive statistics from his first two crops to race, leading the European standings on winners to runners with a ratio of 52% in 2014 and a lifetime ratio of 59%. SEA THE STARS is second only to his half-brother Galileo in the black-type winners to runners rankings, with an enviable 11%.
